The team here at our Tulsa, OK dentist’s office is hoping to see your smiling face in one of our dental chairs before the summer is over. That’s because there is so much that we can do to enhance the look and improve the health of your teeth and gums. Today we wanted to share some of Dr. Cobble’s tips for keeping your teeth and gums in shape the rest of the season. Please keep reading, and then be sure to follow up and schedule your next appointment at Masterpiece Smiles!
Drink Lots Water
Water can do your body a lot of good, generally speaking. Hydration is especially key in these summer months. But beyond the overall health benefits, water can also help keep your breath from becoming offensive by allowing you to produce enough saliva to fight off the bad-breath-causing bacteria.
Say “No” To Sugary Sodas & Snacks
Sure, a cold bottle of soda pop or a frozen custard from Freckles might hit the spot but it won’t be much good for your smile in the long run because all that sugar will feed the bacteria that brings about cavities. No one wants to deal with fillings in the fall! So, try to limit your intake of such things and you’ll be glad you did.
Remember To Brush Your Teeth
Although your attitude might be more relaxed right now, you should still be brushing your teeth for 2 minutes or more, at least twice each day. That’s what the American Dental Association says, and Dr. Cobble agrees. This practice will help keep tooth decay and gum disease in check, and it will leave your mouth feeling fresh.
Find The Floss
To really go after the plaque and tartar that remains between your teeth and in other hard to see areas, dental floss is the weapon you’ll need. Use it at least once each day all summer and beyond.
Rinse With A Fluoride Mouthwash
Rinsing with a fluoride mouthwash is a nice way to finish off your daily routine. Just be sure to read the labels for age-appropriateness.

You will find that our professional teeth cleanings can take care of any bacteria, tartar, or plaque that is still hiding in your mouth just waiting to cause problems for you.
Plus, our comprehensive oral exams will give you a better idea of what is going on in with your teeth and gums at that particular moment. You see, we use a special dental laser during your dental exams that painlessly detects cavities you cannot see.
We also take fully digital X-rays to see if there are any problems lurking in your teeth or gums. When necessary, we also have state-of-the-art 3D imaging capability that gives us incredibly detailed information for early diagnosis. Additionally, we are equipped to make a wax impression of your smile.
If you are looking for further preventive measures, we can provide even more prevention through fluoride treatments and sealants for children and grown-ups alike. We can do so much, but none of that matters if you never come to see us.
